This is a big screen for the money! Fan everything in its price range away. If you need a general screen now and can get it cheap (discounts, free shipping, no tax) I recommend it. Samsung B2230 22-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor - Glossy Black
This is my third Samsung PC LCD, who owns both a 22 "1680x1050 226BW for over three years and a 25.5" 1920x1200 T260 for a year (had a bad 22 "and had it replaced - 226BW reviewed here on January 19, 2008 ). Anyway, I bought the B2230 for a 3-LCD gaming computer setup. If it could be over, I would have bought a second monitor, especially P2250, which I'll buy the third LCD to complete the installation.
The first pixel space on this screen is about the same as 22 "and 25.5" (0.28 mm xxx - P2250 is 0.24 density xxx pixels - more pixel density = better image quality). I was hoping for a slightly sharper clarity for a 1920x1080 screen at this size, especially given the 25.5 "share almost the same pixel density greater than 4" more screen space. The 25.5 "is as clear as the 21.5" on the home page text and the holy grail of image quality for me, cockpit instrument legibility in Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Of course there is a sharpness option on the menu but it just does not help much for what I had expected.
With that said, it's still a fine display for the average user. There are a few pounds lighter than 22 "and is very cool. Touch menu items and feel is pretty standard for Samsung. People new to the Samsung PC LCD monitors can find cutting edge touch" buttons "cumbersome and difficult to work with, but. See beats trying deal with Samsung buttons on the side and bottom of my other two monitors blind can also gloss bezel be postponed for some, and definitely is a dust and fingerprint magnet, but I like gloss -. it seems to be the norm these days from manufacturers and match everything else in the house TV / Monitor wisely. No red "touch of color" here to match the beautiful T260, but still looks good on your desktop. The cradle allows you to tilt, but so typical in this price range, no height adjustment.
Finally, the brightness of this monitor is toned down from the box, to less than 60%. You will spend some time to calibrate it to your taste. All in all, for those who want a run-of-the-mill 21.5 "LCD which is 1080p capable, this is an acceptable screen, but again, not recommended for those who appreciate a higher output pixel density. Remember this LCD as Enterprise Rent Buick of 1080p Samsung screens: it serves the purpose and grandfather think it's fantastic, but nothing to brag to friends.
The MagicEco feature, you can work at 100%, 75% or 50% brightness, reducing energy consumption.
Simple and elegant design with a rich, glossy black finish is accentuated by the clear, crystal-like acrylic along the bottom edge.
70,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio creates deeper, more dramatic dark tones and brighter light tones more prominent.
16:9 widescreen gives clear, distortion free images and much more room to have a lot more fun. Made for multimedia and optimized for HD content. 1 D-sub input (15 pin), 1 VGA input
Low power technology reduces power consumption and energy bills further.
